TRUMBULL ATHLETIC CONFERENCE Liberty rallies to beat Newton Falls



Hubbard slipped past Champion, 44-41, in overtime.
NEWTON FALLS -- Newton Falls High took a late lead but Liberty finished with an 8-3 rally to beat the Tigers 52-49 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference girls basketball game Monday.
Molly Lenarcic, who collected 10 points for the Tigers (4-2, 2-2), scored a basket to push Newton Falls in front, 46-44.
Brittny Humphrey, who scored 18 points for the Leopards, made a basket and a foul shot to give the Leopards the lead for good, 47-46.
Jessica White had 18 points and Lena Esmail eight points and seven rebounds for Liberty.
Desiree Sterling scored 19 points and Kassi Collins had seven rebounds for the Tigers.
Girard 71, LaBrae 14
GIRARD -- Cachet Murray, Jen Maravola and Bree Longberry scored 18, 17 and 11 points respectively for the Indians (5-1, 4-1).
Girard, which opened the season with a five-game win streak, jumped out to a 39-4 lead at the half.
Anita Simmon scored seven points for the Vikings (0-6, 0-4).
Brookfield 55, Badger 34
BROOKFIELD -- Ashley Gramsky collected 16 points and 10 rebounds while Holly DeMay was in with 13 points and six rebounds for the Warriors (4-2, 3-1).
Christina Miller added 11 points for the Braves (0-7, 0-5).
Brookfield, which has won three in a row, led 26-19 at the break but the Braves pulled within 28-26 in the third.
DeMay went 7-for-7 from the line in a 14-2 spurt that pushed Brookfield into a 42-28 margin it never relinquished.
Hubbard 44, Champion 41 (OT)
CHAMPION -- Anna DeJulio scored 13 points and Katy Jo Mroski tacked on 12 more for the Eagles.
The two combined for all the overtime points by the Eagles.
Jessica Carpenter scored 19 points for the Flashes.
Niles 49, Lakeview 39
CORTLAND -- Stacia Ray scored 16 points, Taura Mitchell hit for 15 points and the two evenly split 14 rebounds for the Red Dragons (4-1).
Natalie Sudzina scored 11 points, Britini Morello scored 10 points and Christina Martin grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (0-7).
A two-point third quarter left Lakeview trailing 36-19 with eight minutes to go.
