HEADACHES Tips for fighting stress

Plan ahead. Arrive at airports at least two hours early and be prepared for long lines and wait times. Those traveling by car should outline the route and make hotel reservations in advance.
Make lists. List everything that must be done before you leave so you won't forget such things as leaving a key with the neighbor who is to water your plants and pick up the mail.
Don't skip meals. If you're unable to follow a regular eating schedule, pack snacks, because an empty stomach can trigger a headache.
Avoid last-minute shopping. Eliminate shop-a-holic tension headaches by utilizing catalog or online services or by starting to accumulate holiday gifts early.
Avoid smoke or perfume-filled rooms. Get fresh air whenever possible.
Keep a normal sleeping pattern. Late-night parties can cause migraines.
Drink only in moderation. Sip slowly and alternate with non-alcoholic beverages. Avoid red wine that contains tyramine.
Schedule personal time. Being with family or friends in close quarters for several days can be stressful.
See your health-care provider. If you experience frequent or severe headaches during the holiday, go to a doctor.
