AUSTINTOWN Court cases



Several people recently appeared before Judge David D'Apolito in Mahoning County Court in Austintown, on various charges:
Jerry Bohrer, 40, of Lakeview Street, Youngstown, charged with drug abuse and deception to obtain dangerous drugs. Bohrer was arrested by police Nov. 12 after picking up a prescription for Vicodin at the Medicine Shoppe on Mahoning Avenue. A Medicine Shoppe pharmacist said the man who placed the prescription had misrepresented himself as an employee of a doctor. Bohrer's next hearing is set for Jan. 30.
Jerries Starks, 21, of Lakewood Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded innocent to failure to comply with a police order. Police said Starks led them on a car chase Nov. 24 from Crum Road to Donald Drive. Her next hearing is set for Jan. 27.
Stephen Cannon, 35, of Selkirk Avenue, Youngstown, felony charge of trafficking in drugs. Cannon also pleaded innocent to charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found nine packages of suspected heroin in Cannon's shoe, as well as two syringes, during a traffic stop Nov. 21 on Forest Hill Drive. His next hearing is set for Jan. 27.
Ted Dodrill, 46, of Omalia Drive, Mineral Ridge, was sentenced in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to serve five years in the Lorain Correctional Institution for aggravated robbery. Dodrill had pleaded guilty to robbing the Country Fair store on state Route 46 on Sept. 18. The sentence will be concurrent with a sentence Dodrill is serving for a Trumbull County crime. Dodrill's case had been bound over from county court in Austintown.
John Buggs, 67, of Woodland Avenue, Youngstown, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 85 days suspended and credit for five days served, after pleading guilty to possession of a dangerous drug. Police said that on Sept. 11, they found a bottle of Claritin D prescribed to "Franklin," a bottle of Augmentin prescribed to a woman, and two sample packs of Viagra in a truck Buggs was driving. Buggs also was ordered by Judge D'Apolito to pay $150 in fines and court costs and serve six months of reporting probation. His license also was suspended for 180 days.
Edward Hill, 44, of Kennedy Road, Lowellville, charged with two counts of felonious assault. Police said Hill, an assistant manager at The Babylon strip club on Javit Court, beat two men with a baseball bat Oct. 30 outside the club. His next hearing is set for Jan. 13.
Rocky Nicoloff, 24, of Price Road, Youngstown, charged with aggravated robbery and two counts of kidnapping. Police said Nicoloff robbed a woman at gunpoint Nov. 11 at the Four Seasons Apartments on New Road. The case has been bound over to a county grand jury.
Tyree Mitchell, 23, of Sherwood Avenue, Youngstown, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 87 days suspended, after pleading guilty to improper handling of a firearm and drug abuse. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Police said they found a scale, suspected marijuana and a loaded gun in a car in which Mitchell was sitting July 31 in the parking lot of the Kerrybrook Apartments on South Raccoon Road. Police said they also found plastic bags containing suspected marijuana in Mitchell's pocket. He also was sentenced to pay $150 in fines and court costs and to serve one year's reporting probation. The judge also suspended Mitchell's license for 180 days and ordered him to undergo an assessment for drug treatment.
Rush Fairbanks, 19, North Kimberly Avenue, was accepted into Mahoning County Felony Drug Court. He had been charged with drug abuse. Police said they found a nitrous oxide container, suspected cocaine and suspected marijuana in July in Fairbanks' apartment.
