Monday, August 26, 2002

STRUTHERS -- When a 23-year-old man housesitting for a friend returned to the Morrison Street home, two masked gunmen were waiting for him.
The housesitter, of Geneva Street, told police a gun was placed to his side at about 10 p.m. Saturday as he was ordered into the home and asked where a safe, money and drugs were.
He told them he didn't know, and the men bound his arms and legs using an extension cord and wire and sat him on a cooler in the basement. The robbers then ransacked the house for 40 minutes before leaving.
The housesitter broke free and called police at about 11:30 p.m.
Stolen were a handgun, a Sony PlayStation2, a Microsoft Xbox, seven video game discs, five DVD movies, $1,160 in cash and a wallet.
