Dairy Mart robbed
NILES -- A polite thief got away with an undisclosed amount of cash early today from Dairy Mart at 2363 Robbins Ave.
A clerk told police the man walked in about 5:30 a.m. and stood in front of the register with one hand in his pants pocket as if he had a weapon and the other hand outstretched.
Getting the unspoken message, the clerk gave the money to the man, who said, "Thank you. Bye."
Police patrols
BROOKFIELD -- Township police are conducting additional patrols through Sept. 2.
More than 90 hours will be dedicated to enforcement of DUI, speed and seat-belt violations. The overtime money for the patrols comes from the state's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program and the Trumbull County DUI Task Force.
Fish sale
WARREN -- Orders are being accepted for the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District's fall white amur fish sale.

Robbery charges
HUBBARD -- Two Youngstown men were to be arraigned today in Girard Municipal Court.
Christopher McBride, 20, of Bennington Avenue, and Jamal Bullock, 30, of Liberty Road, are charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.
Police say they forced their way into a Shadyside Drive home shortly before noon Saturday and forced a woman in her 70s to give them several items, including jewelry and cash, before fleeing in her vehicle.
The suspects were spotted about 12:30 p.m. about a block away and were captured on foot.
Officers from Hubbard city and township, Liberty, Youngstown and the Mahoning and Trumbull county sheriff's departments assisted.
Campbell police say the men also are suspects in the Friday robbery of $1,200 from an 83-year-old Pin Oaks Place woman.
Photography contest
COLUMBIANA -- Entry forms for the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce annual photography contest are available at the chamber, 104 1/2 S. Main St., and at several Columbiana businesses.
The contest, to be held during the Columbiana Street Fair, Sept. 5-7, is open to all amateur photographers. Prizes will be awarded in various categories for adults (14 and older) and children (13 and younger). A new category for this year's show is computer-enhanced photos.
Burglar scared away
SHARON, Pa. -- Police are looking for a man suspected of breaking into two homes this morning.
Police said a black man wearing glasses and a red baseball jersey and hat entered a home on the 900 block of Baldwin Avenue and another on the 800 block of Cedar Avenue sometime from 5 to 6 a.m. People in both homes woke up and scared off the man.
Radio club recognized
YOUNGSTOWN -- The 20/9 Amateur Radio Club, composed of 11 members from Youngstown and the surrounding area, has been designated as a "special service club" by the American Radio Relay League, a national organization of amateur radio operators.
Founded in 1954, the 20/9 club was recognized for its emergency communications program and participation in the amateur radio emergency service as well as community involvement, technical education classes and recruitment and training practices.
The operators, who are known as "hams," are often able to communicate worldwide with small portable radio stations and are known internationally for the assistance they render in relaying messages into and out of stricken areas. Talking about France
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Cultural Alliance will have a session titled "Monuments, Memories and Milestones of France" on Sept. 9 in Sacred Heart Polish National Church, 702 Cameron Ave., from 6 to 9 p.m.
Speaker will be Paul Dalbec, Youngstown State University professor emeritus and a leader of the local French culture group Le Cercle Francais.
The Youngstown-based organization has monthly meetings from September through June which explore different countries of the world. The programs include an ethnic meal, a 30-minute presentation and relevant cultural enrichment.
