COLUMBIANA CORNER Finding humor in a lousy situation

Columbiana County Commissioner Sean Logan is taking some ribbing over Judge C. Ashley Pike's assertion that Logan is a "lousy commissioner."
Judge Pike of common pleas court made the claim in a sworn statement given earlier this summer in connection with a lawsuit common pleas judges filed seeking more funding from commissioners.
The judge's remarks were publicized last week. Courthouse jokesters wasted no time in kidding Logan about it.
One wag came into the commissioners' office and jokingly referred to Logan as that lousy commissioner.
"It's Mister Lousy Commissioner," Logan quipped.
Ho ho ho
During a recent Columbiana City Council meeting, a chamber of commerce representative told of the chamber's plan to organize a Christmas parade with Santa Claus arriving on a city firetruck.
Council members asked Police Chief John Krawchyk if he saw any problems with the proposed parade route.
"We'll make it work," Krawchyk said.
"For Santa Claus, you have to," Mayor Lowell Schloneger said.
Field of play
Leetonia Village Administrator Gary Phillips said the park board's idea behind installing playground equipment at the far edge of the youth baseball outfield is to give siblings and friends of baseball players something to do during the game.
He said parents can watch their children who are playing baseball and keep an eye on other children at the same time.
He said once the playground equipment is installed, its use will not be limited to youth baseball families.
"I might even go test it out myself," Phillips said.
