CALENDAR Jewish holy days

Sept. 7: Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, marks the beginning of Jewish year 5763 and inaugurates the Ten Days of Penitence, closing with the Day of Atonement.
Sept. 16: Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the most solemn of Jewish holy days, devoted to prayer, fasting and repentance.
