SCHOLARSHIPS Slovak organization to honor students



HUBBARD -- Winners of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association education scholarships will be honored Aug. 25 at a dinner to be held at 1 p.m. at The Gallery.
Bernie Demechko, Youngstown district president, will preside.
Area winners are:
UGraduate level: Gina Clausen, Youngstown.
UCollege level: James Schuler, New Middletown; Melissa Daley and Daniel Ornelas, Struthers; Karen Lynn Deley, Boardman; Laura Woychik and Elin Renstrom, Poland; Janeace Brooke, Caroline Ferenchak, Lisa Marie Kupec, William E. Michael and Christine Rovnak, Youngstown; and Jeremy Baker, Hermitage, Pa.
UCatholic high school: Elaine Maro and Jill Pascarella, Youngstown.
UCatholic elementary school: Ken Lapushan and Theresa Leonard, Youngstown; and Jessica Alexander, Fairlawn.
The Anna Granchay Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Randall Renstrom, Poland.
A total of $161,000 in scholarships is being awarded to 150 members across the country by the FCSLA. The organization was founded in 1892 by eight Slovak immigrant women. The group donates funds to various charities in addition to awarding scholarships.
