BENEFIT Sorority plans workshops, fashion show



Proceeds will benefit the chapter's scholarship fund and will support outreach activities in the community.
HOWLAND -- Epsilon Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will present its annual seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 11 at the Avalon Inn and Resort, 9519 E. Market St.
"Women Celebrating the New Millennium" has been chosen as the title for the event.
Tickets for the seminar are $25 and may be purchased by contacting any member of the sorority, or by calling (330) 898-6228 or (330) 746-5414. Proceeds will benefit the group's scholarship fund and other outreach activities in the community.
What's planned
A mini health fair will be conducted by Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Vendors will be on hand to provide information and literature on health topics.
A series of workshops will be presented as follows:
U"Hypertension Facts from the Heart" by Dr. Nathaniel S. Doe and Linda Robinson, a registered nurse.
U"Elder Care and Estate Protection" by Atty. Elliot Legow of Elder Law.
U"Living Single and Enjoying It" by the Rev. Lewis Macklin of Holy Trinity Baptist Church.
U"Girl, Get Your Money Straight" by Vernard Richberg of Salomon Smith Barney Inc.
Also featured at the event will be a luncheon at noon followed by a fashion drama and a fashion show from noon to 1:30 p.m.
