McDonald swept a doubleheader from Girard.
WARREN -- Melissa LaRosa threw her third career no-hitter, as Cardinal Mooney High shut out Warren Kennedy 13-0 on Tuesday.
LaRosa struck out seven and walked just one, but faced the minimum number of batters as the Cardinals (12-1) threw out the lone runner trying to steal in the second inning.
Andrea Fryda went 5-for-5 with a double and triple and five RBIs. Adrianne Detesco added three hits, including a double, while Danielle Kepics had two hits, including a double, and she drove in two runs and scored three times.
LaRosa, a senior, has thrown a no-hit game in each of her three seasons with the Cardinals.
JFK's record is 3-7.
Chaney 17, Wilson 1: YOUNGSTOWN -- Gina Loto, Amanda Yazbek, Angela Armstrong and Sheila Koller each had two hits for Chaney (6-4, 2-0 City Series).
Wilson fell to 2-5, 0-2.
Rayen 17, Yo. Christian 2: YOUNGSTOWN -- Shana Woodberry had two hits, including a home run, for Rayen (3-8).
Emily Donato, Ciara Clark, Misha Stredrick and Natasha Clemons each added two hits. Youngstown Christian fell to 0-4.
Warren Harding 3-3, Campbell Memorial 1-4: WARREN -- Shannon Pavlansky (2-2) had a double and gained the win in the nightcap for the Red Devils (6-4).
Poland 15, Niles 0: NILES -- Senior Michelle Nespeca doubled twice and drove in four runs to back up a three-hitter by Sarah Knill in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Knill (7-2) allowed just three singles, struck out seven and yielded no walks for the Bulldogs (11-2, 6-0).
Steffi Graf singled, doubled and drove in two runs, while Katie Naumoff and Emily Patton each had two singles for the Bulldogs, who scored nine runs in the fourth.
Tia Symcheck singled twice for the Red Dragons.
Howland 3, Canfield 2: CANFIELD -- Meredith Schneider had a single, a double and scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Allison Post tripled twice for the Tigers.
Lindsay Yosay, Trisha McHenry, Nikki Garrett, Megan Turocy and Amanda Williams each had two hits for the Cardinals (4-7, 3-3 MAC).
South Range 2, Mathews 0: VIENNA -- Jenn Toth threw a one-hitter and added three hits, including a double and a triple, for South Range (5-3, 4-1 Inter-County League).
Toth struck out 10 and walked one. Amy Algeo added two hits.
Mathews fell to 3-5, 2-4.
Springfield 10, Lowellville 3: HUBBARD -- Ashley Platt (1-2) threw a one-hitter and Jessica Snyder singled twice for the Tigers (9-6).
After the Rockets (0-12) scored a run in the second inning, the Tigers put all their runs on the board over the next four innings.
Mineral Ridge 2, Columbiana 1: COLUMBIANA -- Sarah Gerberry singled in two runs in the top of the first inning and the advantage held up for the Rams (9-3).
Katie Olive also doubled for Mineral Ridge. The Clippers are 9-6.
McDonald 8-16, Girard 5-1: MCDONALD -- Mindy Green (3-5) won both games and finished 4-for-5 with a triple and five RBIs for the Blue Devils (5-6).
Kristin Walls had three hits and two RBIs, while Lindsey Urban had two hits for McDonald.
Nicole Melfi and Kristen Reno each had two hits for the Indians.
Lakeview 4, Hubbard 3: HUBBARD -- Heather Fink (9-0) had a single and scored a run, striking out seven, for Lakeview (9-0, 7-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Anna DeJulio had two hits for Hubbard (6-2, 5-1).
Newton Falls 5, Southington 0: SOUTHINGTON -- Lindsey McCartney (10-3) tossed a two-hitter for the Tigers (10-4), striking out nine and walking four.
Jessi Garretson had two hits. Lindsay Byer (5-4), who had 13 strikeouts, gave up five unearned runs on seven hits as Southington (7-6) committed eight errors.
Champion 3, LaBrae 2: WARREN -- Champion's Lauren Seafert struck out seven and walked two to improve to 2-2.
Seafert added a double for the Golden Flashes (6-4).
LaBrae's Andrea Gibson added two hits.
Akron Springfield 2, West Branch 1: AKRON -- Suzanne Rudy had two hits for the winners, who scored both their runs in the sixth inning.
Jenn Griffith and Jen Moore each had two hits for the Warriors, who scored in the first.
