Police arrest woman in stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN -- City police have arrested a 28-year-old woman in connection with the February throat-slashing and stabbing of an 89-year-old man in his South Side home.
The woman, of East Chalmers Avenue, faces a felonious assault charge. She also faces a charge of failing to appear in municipal court on a count of passing bad checks.
She is accused of stabbing Michael Butch several times during a robbery at his Midlothian Boulevard home. Police found the man bleeding from his neck and abdomen, propped against the door to his apartment, around 5:35 p.m. Feb. 17. A neighbor had seen him crawling to the door and called for help.
Butch was unable to speak but nodded when an officer asked if a woman had stabbed and robbed him, pointing to his front pants pockets that were pulled out as if someone had gone through them.
When Butch was admitted to the hospital, medical personnel told police his injuries were so severe he could die. He spent several days in critical condition, but later recovered.
Witnesses told police that female drug addicts often visited Butch asking for money.
