Prayer vigil set
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Office of Pro-Life Activities of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown and St. Dominic Parish, Youngstown, will sponsor a prayer vigil from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday for killer Alton Coleman, his victims and their families. Coleman is scheduled to be executed by the state of Ohio at 10 a.m. Friday. The vigil will be in St. Dominic Church.
Youth leaders
YOUNGSTOWN -- Christian Assembly has announced the arrival of the Rev. Mike Devantier, who will be the youth pastor. He will be assisted by his wife, Donna. Formerly of Michigan, Mike and Donna founded YouthNET in 1999. This evangelism-based organization networked youth pastors and successfully started Bible clubs in a large number of area high schools.
Earth Day service
YOUNGSTOWN -- First Unitarian Church of Youngstown will be holding an Earth Day service featuring the music of Teddy Pantelas at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Bishop to preside
NILES -- Arthur B. Williams, suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio, will be the celebrant for Eucharist, baptism and confirmation in St. Luke Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. Sunday. The suffragan in Ohio since 1986, he will retire at the end of this year. He represented the Episcopal Church when nine major denominations recently inaugurated a new closer relationship called Churches Uniting in Christ.
Spring revival
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance presents its spring conference and revival services at 6 p.m. May 6 to 8 in Elizabeth Baptist Church. The revivalist will be the Rev. Kenneth W. Paramore of United Baptist Church in Akron. A special youth and family night preview service will be at 5 p.m. May 5, featuring the Rev. Gary Wyatt of Akron, author of "From Dealing to Healing." Call (330) 782-8929.
Bishop to preside
YOUNGSTOWN -- Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will preside at the fifth annual Night to Honor Mary at 7 p.m. May 3 in St. Columba Cathedral. The devotional service will include Scripture readings, hymns and recitation of the rosary. Monsignor William Bonczewski of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon will be the homilist.
Prophetic conference
BOARDMAN -- A prophetic conference, "Dare to be Different," will be at 7 p.m. May 24 and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 25 at the Ursuline Center. Evangelist Darlene Waller is giving the program.
