GROVE CITY COLLEGE Amway chief to address grads

Diplomas are to be awarded to approximately 555 seniors.
GROVE CITY , Pa. --Dick DeVos, president of Amway Corporation, will be the featured speaker during commencement at Grove City College.
The event will be at 10:30 a.m. May 18 in the Arena.
World Vision minister-at-large, Roberta Hestenes, will be the speaker for Baccalaureate at 7:30 p.m. May 17 in Harbison Chapel.
Approximately 555 seniors will cross the stage to receive diplomas from President John H. Moore and Registrar John G. Inman.
DeVos: As the president of Amway, Dick DeVos leads one of the world's largest direct-sales corporations. He began working for Amway 26 years ago and has held positions in research and development and sales and marketing.
In 1984, DeVos was promoted to International vice president and was responsible for the operation of Amway's 11 affiliated International companies. Under his leadership, international sales tripled and exceeded domestic sales for the first time in the company's history.
Upon acquisition of the Orlando Magic by the DeVos family in 1991, Dick DeVos became president and CEO for the NBA franchise through 1993, when he returned to Amway to succeed his father as president. During his presidency, Amway has established more than 15 international affiliates and achieved record sales of more than $7 billion.
Hestenes: After more than two decades as a World Vision International board member, the Rev. Roberta Hestenes, pastor, educator and former college president, assumed a full-time role at the largest Christian humanitarian organization in the world in 2000. As minister-at-large, Hestenes focuses on international staff development, consulting, strategic planning, leadership conference, church relationships and missions education, serving both internationally and in the United States.
She serves at two World Vision locations, World Vision International in Monrovia, Calif., and World Vision United States near Seattle. She has been on boards of directors of one or both organizations since 1980, including chair of the international board from 1985 to 1992.
Before taking on the minister-at-large role at World Vision, Hestenes served as senior pastor since 1996 at the 2,000-member Solana Beach Presbyterian Church in North San Diego County, Calif. Hestenes also served as president and professor at Eastern College in St. David's, Pa., and as adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary, Regent College, Asbury Seminary, Azusa Pacific Haggard School of Theology, Columbia Seminary and Ridley College.
