Federal Plaza hearing
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city planning commission will have a public hearing Tuesday to take comment on the plan to re-open Federal Plaza downtown to traffic.
The hearing will be at 3:15 p.m. in the fifth-floor conference room of the public works department. People also can express their opinions in writing to the planning department.
The plan calls for reopening the plaza all the way through downtown, installing diagonal parking spaces and removing the center islands elsewhere on Federal Street.
Organic agriculture talk
YOUNGSTOWN -- Health Choices Network will present "Healthy Soil, Healthy Food, Healthy Bodies," a discussion of organic and nonorganic agriculture, at the main library on Wick Avenue at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Speakers will be Frank Romeo, director of land management for the Sisters of the Humility of Mary at Villa Maria, Pa., and Barbara O'Donnell, a sister of the Humility of Mary and director of EverGreen, a ministry that integrates spirituality and earth education.
Admission is free.
Boardman park plan
BOARDMAN -- Boardman Township Park District's five-year master plan, "The Future of Recreation for Boardman," which includes details about the proposed activity and senior center, is available for review at the park or on the park's Web site, www.boardmanpark.com.
The Web site details the differences between the community center and the upcoming Family Branch YMCA now under construction here.
Breakfast fund-raiser
WARREN -- The Trumbull Community Action Program will have a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at Warren West Community Center, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W.
Tickets are $4 a person. Proceeds will benefit TCAP, which has been providing services to the county's needy for 37 years.
