PREP VOLLEYBALL Boardman outlasts Canton McK

CANTON -- Mara Capraroulo had 13 kills, six blocks and seven digs Saturday as the Boardman High volleyball team needed three games to defeat Canton McKinley Saturday.
Boardman lost the first game, 15-7, before rebounding for 15-12, 14-11 victories.
Whitney Tressel had 41 assists and three points while Lauren Craig made six kills and three blocks. Jen Feret had seven kills and eight digs.
Boardman 15-15, Canton GlenOak 8-8: CANTON -- Claire Selius had 12 points and nine aces while Feret had four points, six kills and seven digs. Jen Hlebovy had eight kills.
Boardman 15-20, Canton South 5-18: CANTON -- Capraroulo had seven points, eight kills and four blocks for Boardman (17-2). Craig made six kills and four blocks while Natalie Kreps had three kills.
Girard 15-15, Liberty 1-10: GIRARD -- Tealle Hunkus registered 12 kills and four blocks for Girard (9-2 in the Trumbull Athletic Conference), while Katie Vesely contributed four kills and two digs, Erin Stevens 14 assists and three aces and Brittany Kay had 10 serving points with three aces for the Indians .
For Liberty, Sarah Walters had five serving points, Mary Massaro 17 assists and Becki Bruno two kills.
Girard 15-15, Jackson-Milton 6-11: GIRARD -- Tealle Hunkus had eight serving points, six aces, 17 kills and 10 blocks to lead Girard (13-4 overall), while Brittany Kay chipped in with 11 serving points, Stephanie Scarnecchia six kills and five digs, Katie Vesely five digs and three aces and Erin Stevens 24 assists. Jefferson Area 15-17, Salem 5-15: SALEM -- Salem's Megan Sampson had three aces, three kills and a tip and Tiffany Heestand had an ace, three kills and a block in a loss to Jefferson Area (13-2). Lauren Teal added three kills, one tip and a block for Salem (11-6).
Crestview 15-6-16, Jefferson Area 4-15-14: Katie Kibby had nine kills and six blocks and Alissa Fisher had four kills, three aces and three blocks for Crestview (7-8) in a win over Jefferson Area (13-3).
Crestview 15-10-15, Salem 13-15-13: Kibby had 16 kills and eight blocks and Erin Mellinger had 40 assists and an ace for Crestview (8-8) in a win over Salem (11-7). Heestand had 15 kills and one block and Teal had three aces, seven kills and six blocks in the loss.
