Two to giveinitial sermons
YOUNGSTOWN -- Byron Armour and Yolanda Shields will deliver their initial sermons at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Both are members of the church's steward board.
Armour works at Oxford Automotive and is chairman of United Steelworkers of America Local 1618. He's a member of the church's core team with the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, and is a 1987 graduate of East High School.
Shields obtained her managing manicurist license from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology and is a 1995 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She's ACTION's executive secretary, is the church's coordinator for the HOPE 2001 Campaign and is creative director for the Chosen & amp; Next Generation Mime Ministries.

Disaster fund
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has collected over $23,632 for Catholic Charities USA, which is coordinating the Catholic church's response to the Sept. 11 attacks. Donations will be used for immediate material needs, funeral-related expenses and counseling. Dedication scheduled
COLUMBIANA -- Jerusalem Lutheran Church will dedicate its new flagpole at 10 a.m. Sunday in honor of all who have served the United States.
CROP Walks set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Volunteers will raise funds to combat hunger locally and nationally during the CROP Walks set for Oct. 14 in Youngstown and Warren. Fall revival services
YOUNGSTOWN -- Morning Star Baptist Church will have fall revival services at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The speaker for the week will be Dr. Edgar Fisher of Friendship Baptist Church in Warren.
Service for the disabled
WARREN -- The liturgy at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 28 at Blessed Sacrament Church will focus on the inclusion of the disabled. There will be an interpreter for the deaf and special music. A reception will follow.
Patriotic music
CORTLAND -- Cortland Trinity Baptist Church will present a free patriotic musical presentation, ending in prayers for the United States in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Personal spirituality
AUSTINTOWN -- "Foundations of Personal Spirituality" is a six-week course to be given by Monsignor George Appleyard at St. Anne Ukrainian Church starting at 7 p.m. Thursday. The other sessions will be Oct. 18 and 25, and Nov. 1, 8, and 15. The program will explore stages of faith in a maturing personality and ways to help individuals discover their spirituality.

AUSTINTOWN -- St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church will have rosary devotions and hymns at 7 p.m. Oct. 11. Refreshments will follow.
Bible classes offered

95th anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church will observe its 95th anniversary Oct. 6 and 7. Holy Trinity began in 1906 when Romanian immigrants built a church on Wilson Ave. In 1945, the parish members bought the former Arms family mansion on Wick Avenue and converted it into a church that still serves its parishioners. Festivities will begin with Vesper services Oct. 6 with Archbishop Nathaniel Popp, leader of the Romanian Orthodox Church of the USA and Canada, and other guest priests. After the Hierarchical Liturgy on Sunday, there will be a social hour and banquet at Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center. Reservations are needed for the banquet. Call (330) 746-5397.
75th anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The American Hungarian Reformed Church of Youngstown will celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a service at 4 p.m. Sunday followed by dinner at the Saxon Club.
Wedding celebration
CANTON -- Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate a special Mass at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 in St. John the Baptist Church marking the wedding anniversaries of 116 couples who are being honored for a total of 5,562 years of marriage. The couples each have been married for 25 or more years. Each couple will receive a personalized certificate. John and Mary Phillips, parishioners of St. Barbara Parish in Massillon, are the two attending who have been married the longest, with 67 years of marriage.
Salon mission
YOUNGSTOWN -- Casal's de Spa & amp; Salon will sponsor "Project Daymaker" from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission. Project Daymaker, a 34-foot Winnebago salon on wheels, travels to homeless shelters and treatment centers providing haircuts and beauty care to those in need. Local Aveda salon owners and stylists volunteer their time and services in an effort to rebuild self-esteem and self-responsibility within the people they touch. Miriam Ministries
CANFIELD -- Nurturing Our Families, a ministry for mothers and grandmothers, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Michael Church. The event is by Miriam Ministries, a new nonprofit women's organization to inspire, honor and support the mothering role of women. The cost is $25 and includes food. Life Chain set

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Eastern Ohio Baptist Association's Nurses' Ministry will present its annual praise service at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday in St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church. There will be different speakers each night.

Liturgical concertand conference
BOARDMAN -- Rory Cooney and his wife, Theresa Donohoo, and Gary Daigle will give a concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at St. Luke Church. From 9 a.m. until noon Oct. 13, the trio will perform more selections and discuss how music heightens the liturgical celebration. Cooney is director of music at St. Anne Catholic Community in Barrington, Ill., where Donohoo is a cantor. Daigle composes and performs sacred music and has given workshops throughout the United States. Concert tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. The Saturday presentation is $8. AUSTINTOWN -- Grant and Sally Ministries, a full-time Christian duo from Loudonville, will present praise music at 8 and 10:45 a.m. Oct. 7 at West Austintown First United Methodist Church. The two have produced three albums of original Christian music.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Applications for Christmas assistance are available at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 to 17, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19. Applicants must bring photo identification, Social Security cards for those in their households age 13 years oldand older, Aid to Dependent Children cards, birth certificates for children who are not receiving welfare benefits, and proof of income and custody.
