A room has been set up in Girard Intermediate School to test equipment.

GIRARD -- Schools Superintendent Joseph Shoaf says he won't ask the school board to approve contracts for remedial work at the troubled intermediate school until he's assured the job will be done right.
Bids to perform $521,875 worth of work, most of it at the intermediate school, were opened Thursday.
The building that opened last fall was closed May 1 as pupils, teachers and staff complained of health problems.
Test room: The superintendent said a classroom has been set aside for tests. The testing will continue as the new equipment is installed in it to assure proper air flow.
A. A. Samuels Sheet Metal Inc. of Youngstown is the apparent low bidder at $78,600 to replace the duct work in the school.
Clayton Group Services, the district's Akron-based environmental consultant, did not recommend the ducts be replaced, but the school administration decided to replace them because of parents' concerns.
The new duct work will have insulation on its outside rather than inside.
Patella Carpet & amp; Tile of Boardman is the apparent low bidder at $32,650 to install tile in the classrooms and front portion of the main office.
Carpeting: The city board of health and Clayton Group recommended removal of the carpeting. Tests showed it contained fungi.
S. A. Comunale Co. Inc. of Liberty is the apparent low bidder at $240,725 to install a fire protection system.
The system will be installed in Prospect Elementary School, which is attached to the intermediate building.
The sprinkler system in the intermediate building will be attached to a water supply, which was not done when the building was constructed.
Johnson Controls Inc. of Canfield is the apparent low bidder at $169,900 to convert air controls from mechanical to digital.
