VOLLEYBALL Salem remains perfect in loop



Led by Megan Sampson and Kelli Crouse, the Quakers topped Poland to stay unbeaten in the MAC.
POLAND -- Megan Sampson collected 18 points, 10 aces and two kills as the Salem High volleyball team remained unbeaten in the Metro Athletic Conference with 15-11, 15-12 victories over Poland.
Kelli Crouse had an ace and eight kills for the Quakers.
Rae Anne Coppola had nine kills while Lori DelSignore had seven points and two digs for the Bulldogs (9-6, 4-1).
Canfield 15-15, Niles 4-6: CANFIELD -- Vanessa Schutz led the Cardinals (7-7, 3-2 MAC) with 10 kills and a block.
Jill Vertanen had seven kills, two blocks and one ace. Kara Kalasky scored nine points, with three aces.
Michelle Rhodes had seven kills, four blocks to pace the Red Dragons. Shannon Floyd had 10 assists.
Howland 10-15-15, Struthers 15-11-10: HOWLAND -- Stephanie Burns scored 14 points, with five aces, four kills and two blocks to spark the Tigers (6-5, 2-3 MAC).
Bronwyn Salo had six points, 10 assists, four digs and three saves. Jaime Kelly had seven points, one ace, six kills, five blocks and two saves.
Sarah Sepesy led the Wildcats (5-6, 0-5) with nine kills and nine digs.
Fitch 15-15, Warren Harding 1-1: WARREN -- Jessica Dicarlo had eight points and three aces while Maggie Case collected five kills and 10 points for Austintown Fitch (10-3, 4-0 in the Steel Valley Conference).
Rosemary Haller had a point with an ace while Ashley Johnson had a point and two kills for Harding (8-7, 2-2).
Boardman 15-15, Ursuline 0-2: YOUNGSTOWN -- Whitney Tressel had 14 points and 19 assists while Mara Capraruolo had seven kills for the Spartans (13-2, 3-1 SVC).
Rachel Evans had seven digs while Lauren Reinhardt had four blocks for the Irish (2-8, 0-2).
Chaney 15-11-15, Mooney 7-15-11: YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeana Loto scored 10 points, with 12 assists to pace the Cowboys (6-10). Nicole Italiano had six blocks.
Wendy Jackson led the Cardinals (2-9) with seven points and 20 assists. April Ruse had five digs and Aieshya Dixon had four blocks and two kills.
West Branch 15-15, Marlington 3-6: MARLINGTON -- Molly New had 10 points, two blocks and six passes while Amber Metzgar had nine points, three kills, a block, four assists and nine passes for the Warriors (9-8).
Stefanie Wilson also collected three kills, six blocks, an assist, four passes and a dig and Jen Weingart had five kills, six blocks, an assist and four passes.
