2 charged with pizza shop robberies

EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool police have charged a 19-year-old Wellsville man and a 19-year-old East Liverpool man with two counts of robbery in connection with armed robbery Wednesday evening of Bruno's Pizza shops in East Liverpool and Calcutta.
Police said that the men have confessed the crimes and that further charges are pending as the investigation continues.
About 9 p.m., police were investigating a report that a Globe Street man was confronted by a man wearing a Halloween mask and brandishing what appeared to be a shotgun, when they received a call of an armed robbery of Bruno's Pizza, 46000 Calcutta-Smithsferry Road, Calcutta. Police said a man with a handgun and wearing a Halloween mask entered the Calcutta pizza shop about 9:21 p.m. and demanded money. At 9:36 p.m., police said, a man wearing a ski mask entered the Bruno's Pizza at 500 Walnut Street, East Liverpool, and demanded money. He fled, taking the entire cash register, police said.
