WARREN Testimony set in murder trial

If convicted, the defendant could face 23 years to life prison.

WARREN -- Testimony is scheduled to begin today in the murder trial of a 30-year-old city man accused of killing an informant.
A jury was selected Monday in Shawn Lynell Armstrong's trial. Court officials think the rest of the trial will last about a week.
Opening statements are set to begin later today in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, prosecutors said.
Armstrong, whose address is not available, is accused of the Aug. 9, 1998, shooting death of Bradrick L. McMillan, 28, of Warren. Armstrong faces a charge of aggravated murder with a gun specification. If convicted, he could face 23 years to life in prison.
Shot in head: Reports say McMillan was shot in the head outside the Elks Club on Highland Avenue in Warren Township.
Police said Armstrong; Lance Pough, 28; and Arthur Bell, 31, had all taken part in the planning and killing of McMillan, who was a government informant. Police said McMillan was going to testify in Pough's August 1998 drug case.
Prosecutors said McMillan made the undercover drug buys in Pough's case and was going to testify against him as an informant.
Guilty pleas: Pough and Bell both pleaded guilty to murder charges.
Bell received 10 years in prison and one year on a firearms specification, which must be served consecutively with the longer prison term.
Pough was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison and three years on a gun specification, which must be served consecutively with the longer prison term.
