There was a confrontation before the shootings, police said.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two gunmen injured a woman and two men when they opened fire into a crowd of people gathered in the front yard of 3310 Hillman St, police said.
The confrontation, which took place around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, had been brewing for a couple of days, Patrolmen Brian Flynn and Patrick Mulligan said in their report. The officers spoke to two witnesses who told them the suspects had exchanged words with Stacey D. Mahone before firing.
Mahone, 24, of Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, was in stable condition this morning with gunshot wounds to his left leg and right buttock.
Michael Mahone, 41, who had been shot in the upper left arm, and Doris Mahone, 38, who had been shot in the back of her right shoulder, were treated at the hospital. Reports show they live at the Hillman Street address.
The random gunfire also hit the front of the house and a 1990 Dodge Dynasty parked near it.
The suspects ran to a car that had been parked nearby on West Lucius Avenue on the South Side and drove off toward Market Street, police said.
At the hospital, Stacey Mahone told police that the argument sprang from a stolen CD player and that he had been trying to smooth things over.
