Holiday food drive
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Jewish Community Relations Council's 10th annual High Holiday Drive will run Sept. 13 through Oct. 11. The drive will benefit the Second Harvest Foodbank of the Mahoning Valley and the Community food Warehouse of the Shenango Valley. All Jewish households have been mailed a bag to bring food and toiletry items to synagogues, the Akiva Academy, or the center. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year; Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement; and Sukkot, the harvest festival of thanksgiving, fall in late September and early October.
