CELEBRATIONS
XHungarian Heritage Day will be held by Youngstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 16. Featured will be Hungarian folk art, music for dancing or listening, and food. There will be a display that details 1100 years of Magyar history. Admission is $2.
CRAFT SHOWS
XThe Women's Guild of St. Vincent de Paul Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna Center, will have its annual arts and crafts show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the church hall. There will be over 50 crafters featured. Additional attractions will include a craft giveaway, bake sale, home decorating on a budget sale and raffles. The guild cookbook, ethnic food and nut rolls also will be sold; takeout orders will be available. Parking and admission will be free.
FESTS
XArchangel Michael Community Center, 401 12th St., Campbell, will hold a Greek food fest from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. American and Greek foods will be available. Dinner specials will be barbecued lamb and roast chicken. There will be free health screenings from noon to 5 p.m., music and dancers, crafts and games.
XEintracht Maennerchor of New Castle, Pa., will sponsor an Oktoberfest Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the SNPJ Recreation Center, Route 108, Enon Valley, Pa. Hours will be 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $9 Friday and $10 Saturday and Sunday with $1 of each admission from Saturday to be donated to Forum Health Tod Children's Hospital. Admission is free to children under 16, and free parking will be available.
XTrumbull County Herb Society will hold an Herb Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Old Opera House, 152 Park Ave., Cortland. Featured will be handcrafted herb, personal care and culinary items, demonstrations and lectures. Lunch will be available.
FUND-RAISERS
XThe Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is sponsoring the Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure Sept. 16 at Wade Oval at University Circle in Cleveland. The 1-Mile Fun Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K Race/Walk at 9:05. Free bus transportation will be available from the J.C. Penney parking lots at Southern Park Mall, Eastwood Mall and Calcutta. SALES
XRichard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, 1205 Elm St., Youngstown, will hold a children's circus in conjunction with its annual yard sale Saturday. The yard sale will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch available, and the circus, including a petting zoo, will be from noon to 3 p.m. in the church parking lot. Cost for the circus event is 25 cents per person, and proceeds will go to help build a secondary school in Dendera, Zimbabwe.
XTod Avenue United Methodist Church, 155 Tod Ave. N.W., Warren, will hold a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and a $2-a-bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. For more information call (330) 393-3859.
XWestminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, will hold a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Many items are 25 cents.
XThe fourth annual fall market sponsored by Wilmington Township Lawrence County Civic League will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Marti Park, Phillips School Road, Wilmington Township. The event will include crafts, flea market items, produce and bulk foods. The league will serve food, including homemade pies. Amish residents will sell baked goods and homemade ice cream. A handcrafted clock will be featured in the Chinese auction, and a drawing will be held for a handmade quilt.
