Team dispatched
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Salvation Army of Mahoning County dispatched a four-member disaster assistance team to the New York City area Monday for a one-week assignment.
The team members will work at a family assistance center at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J., at a disaster relief warehouse in Bayonne, N.J., and at the Medical Examiner's Office in New York City, which is handling remains of the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
Suspect mail reported
CANFIELD -- A secretary at a Leffingwell Road company called Mahoning County deputy sheriffs Monday morning after the company received a suspicious piece of mail.
The mail item was an envelope from Hong Kong, China. The secretary said the company, Dunaway Inc., does not do business in Hong Kong.
Deputies sent the envelope to an Ohio Department of Health lab for testing. Maj. Mike Budd said the envelope did not appear to contain biological or chemical weapons.
