Police arrest 2 in Vienna-area burglaries

VIENNA -- Police were treated to a two-for-one special at Yankee Kitchen.
They not only arrested the suspect in a break-in there, but also got a tip about a second man accused of breaking into two other area businesses.
The break-ins were not related, said Ernie Cook, the Trumbull County sheriff's chief deputy. "It was just good police work," he said.
Burglar alarm: Shane DeChance, 27, was arrested by police responding to the burglar alarm early Saturday at the restaurant. It appeared that the restaurant had been entered through a ventilation shaft on the roof, Cook said.
While police were there, a taxi driver went over and volunteered that he had recently dropped off another man in the area. That man, Daniel Hiles, 47, was charged in connection with breaking into Olympic Dreams Gymnastics and a neighboring business.
Police said he is a suspect in 37 other burglaries over the past year and a half. A man took a taxi to each, and stole only cash, Cook said.
Status: DeChance entered a plea of innocent in Girard Municipal Court Monday and was released on $10,000 bond. Hiles remains in jail pending $50,000 bond as prosecutors take his case to a grand jury.
