Woman killed in wreck
COITSVILLE -- A 60-year-old Girard woman died Sunday in a head-on collision with a pickup truck on state Route 616.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Canfield said Nellie Fox of Patricia Drive was southbound in a Chevrolet Cavalier about 2:25 p.m. when the northbound GMC pickup truck of Michael O'Dell, 29, of state Route 305, Fowler, slid across the center line into her lane.
O'Dell was uninjured.
The accident is under investigation.
Boardman man diesin motorcycle accident
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 35-year-old Boardman man died Saturday in a motorcycle accident on Salt Springs Road.
Police said Marco Spade of Charles Street was eastbound near Ameritech Drive around 11 p.m. when the motorcycle went out from under him, skidded across the pavement and struck a curb.
Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar said witnesses reported seeing Spade speeding and performing tricks with the motorcycle.
He was wearing a helmet.
Water to be shut off
AUSTINTOWN -- Water will be shut off from 9 a.m. to about noon Tuesday to about 18 addresses on Tulane Drive, the Youngstown Water Department said.
Crews will be connecting new pipes to a water main.
Service will be turned off to 5693 to 5738 Tulane.
Once service has been restored, the department recommends boiling water one minute for cooking and drinking until the water is tested and deemed safe.
Woman reports attack
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 35-year-old city woman told police she was at a home in the 100 block of Kenmore Avenue on the city's South Side around 10:45 p.m. Saturday when she was struck in the back of the head, molested and robbed of $25 by the son of a man she was visiting, police reports show.
She said he contended she owed him money.
The woman said a second man kicked her during the assault.
The father of the alleged assailant said the son pushed the woman and searched her clothing but did not kick her or tear off her clothing.
The woman flagged down police around 11:15 p.m. to make the report.
She was treated at Beeghly Medical Center.
Police reports show she had cuts on her lip and arm and bruises on her neck and back.
Armed intruder
YOUNGSTOWN -- Several women reported that a man, around 24 or 25, wearing a Halloween mask and a hood, demanded money from them at gunpoint around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after he entered the South Garland Avenue home on the city's East Side, where some of them lived, police reports show.
The women said that a 36-year-old Campbell resident had come to the house to visit when a man approached her car in the driveway, held a gun to the back of her head and entered the house with her. He demanded money from the visitor and three females, ages 38, 19 and 16, who lived in the home. Police reports show he may have known one of the females.
After the youngest woman escaped through a back door, the robber became agitated and left through the front door. The women heard a gunshot as he left. Police found a 9mm shell casing on the front steps and a bullet hole in the porch ceiling.
Also in the home at the time were two children ages 4 and 5.
