Family dinner party held to honor Evanses on 50th wedding anniversary

McDONALD -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Evans Jr., 805 New Jersey Ave., was celebrated Oct. 7 as their family gathered for a private dinner party at Springfield Grille in Boardman.
Arrangements for the event were made by their children, John and Pamela Evans of Poland and Don and Laurie Smith of McDonald. There are also two grandchildren in the family.
The former Virginia C. Davis and Mr. Evans were married Sept. 12, 1951, at Woodland Park Methodist Church. They are members of First Baptist Church of Howland.
Mrs. Evans retired in 1995 as office manager for the village of McDonald and is a member of Woodland Park Garden Club and the Ladies Missionary Fellowship of the church.
Mr. Evans served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and is retired from the U.S.A.F. Inactive Reserves. He retired in 1989 from State Auto Insurance Co. of Columbus, Youngstown Branch, where he was a senior field claims representative. He served with McDonald Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and was a member of McDonald School Board for 32 years.
