YOUNGSTOWN Pupils to participate in Youth Day activities
YOUNGSTOWN -- Pupils from several Mahoning County school systems and students from Youngstown State University will participate in United Way Youth Day on Friday.
They will engage in age-appropriate, hands-on education activities designed to teach them about the needs of people in the community. They also learn what the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way, through its network of volunteers and partner agencies, does to address those needs.
Participating school systems include Boardman, Canfield, Lowellville, Poland and Youngstown City along with YSU.
At YSU, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a basic public relations class will stage YSU Rockin' in the United Way at the center of the campus just south of Kilcawley Center. Bands that will perform include Mystic WIP Hustler, Future Grass and Straight Note Chaser. Wibble J, an area disc jockey, also will participate.
In addition to music, there will be contests, prizes and free food. The focus of the event is to expand the general knowledge and interest in the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way and the services it provides among YSU students.
