Friday, November 16, 2001

BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities has renewed for six months at $8,333 per month its contract with Future Now Services of Granville, a management consulting firm.
The board voted Thursday evening to renew its dealings with the firm, which has served the board since January.
Initially hired to assist in the transition from Superintendent Charles Holden to Superintendent Larry Duck, the firm's services are now needed to help the board take any corrective actions the Ohio Department of MRDD orders based on its inspection of local facilities earlier this month, Carole Weimer, board president, said.
Key personnel with the firm are former county MRDD superintendents and former state MRDD officials, she said.
The board also gave special recognition to its clients: Richard Carter of the Bev Road MASCO (Mahoning Adult Services Corp.) Workshop; Robert Nick of the Meshel MASCO Workshop; Megan Cooper of Leonard Kirtz School; Mary DeLucia of the board's retirement program; and Jason Smeal of the Rayen Avenue MASCO Workshop.
It also recognized P.J. Guerrierri, owner and operator of Pal Joey's Lounge on Midlothian Boulevard, for donating $2,500 raised in a lounge-sponsored golf outing for playground equipment and installation at the Kirtz School.
