Time for 'Frasier'to look at Sept. 11?
Kelsey Grammer wants an episode of "Frasier" to deal with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The sitcom's executive producer, David Angell, and his wife, Lynn, died on one of the four hijacked planes.
"It's been crossing my mind lately that maybe we need to at least address [Sept. 11] in some way. We are also a contemporary show, concurrent with what's going on in our daily lives," Grammer said.
Co-star David Hyde Pierce says the Seattle-based show should stick to its formula of providing laughs, and cites his work with the Alzheimer's Association as an example.
"Frequently, people say to me: 'Gee, why don't you deal with Alzheimer's on the show?' But I don't really believe that our show is the place to deal with that."
Bergman's brainchild:a new TV production
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Flanked by his leading ladies, 83-year-old Ingmar Bergman took center stage to promote his new TV production, which he wrote after realizing that he was "pregnant with a play."
The famed maker of some 60 films, culminating with 1983's "Fanny and Alexander," said he realized he had to do the play while translating Henrik Ibsen's "Ghosts" from Norwegian to Swedish, which took him three months.
"After that I realized I was pregnant, pregnant with a play," the reclusive director said at a news conference Thursday.
The televised play will be a family drama based on the two main characters from Bergman's previous TV series, "Scenes From a Marriage," which was made into a movie in 1973.
Reports: Former Beatleundergoes treatment
NEW YORK -- Ex-Beatle George Harrison reportedly has received experimental cancer treatment at Staten Island University Hospital.
The 58-year-old Harrison was treated by Dr. Gil Lederman, the hospital's director of radiation oncology, according to published reports.
Calls to Harrison's manager, Jeff Kramer, were not immediately returned. The hospital, citing patient confidentiality policies, would not say whether Harrison was a patient.
But the Daily News on Friday, citing unidentified sources, reported that Harrison was in a private suite. The New York Post said he checked out Sunday in the company of his wife and three bodyguards.
