Motivational speaker
GIRARD -- The Unity Church Centre will present author and motivational speaker Larry Di Angi at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
His message is "Creating a Breakthrough." At 12:30 p.m., Mr. Di Angi will conduct a two-hour workshop titled "How to Be Purpose-Driven."
51st anniversary
Youngstown -- Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 51st anniversary Sunday when Pastor Darlene Robinson, a former member of Holy Trinity, delivers the message during the 11 a.m. worship service.
The Rayen School graduate was one of the founders and the narrator of the Youngstown Community Choir. She's a graduate of Malone College and Ashland Theological Seminary and is currently pastor of Faith and Emmanuel United Methodist churches in Lorain, Ohio.
She and her husband, the Rev. Dennis A. Robinson, are the parents of three sons and reside in Elyria.
Pastor Henry Clinkscale and the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church will be special guests for the 4 p.m. worship service.
Ordination set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ordination services for minister Marvin A. Simmons Sr. will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Rising Star Baptist Church.
He'll be ordained as pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Sharon, Pa., which is presently housed in the Musser Elementary School.
Simmons is a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and holds a bachelor of science degree in human resource management from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa. He resides in Austintown.
Community Thanksgiving
YOUNGSTOWN -- Congregation Rodef Sholom, First Unitarian Church, First Christian Church, Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church and the Cathedral Parish of St. Columba will have their Third Annual Community Thanksgiving Service at 2 p.m. Nov. 18 in St. Columba Cathedral.
People may bring a nonperishable food item for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Thanksgiving program
CAMPBELL -- The Campbell Ecumenical Council will have an evening of thanksgiving, song and praise at Gospel Temple Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Nov. 18.
Church blessing set
CANFIELD -- The trustees of the Western Reserve Village at the Canfield Fairgrounds will have the blessing of their new church in the village at 10 a.m. Nov. 28.
A prayer service will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Hazel, president of the Canfield Ministerial Association and pastor of St. Michael's Church.
The nonsectarian church, patterned after the early New England Congregational Churches, was completed earlier this year. After searching for 10 years without success for an old church to move to the village, a decision was made to build a structure.
The church may be rented for weddings and other events. Call (330) 533-4107.
Rite at St. Columba
YOUNGSTOWN -- "A Festival of Lessons & amp; Carols" will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in St. Columba Cathedral.
Refreshments will follow in the cathedral hall.
The Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Daniel Laginya, will be accompanied by the Dana Faculty String Ensemble and organist Joseph Petros III.
