MILTON TOWNSHIP 6 people arrested at bar go to initial court date



The bar owner and bouncer are charged with promoting prostitution.
AUSTINTOWN -- Six of seven people charged after an undercover investigation at Dean's Place, 147 N. Pricetown Road, Milton Township, appeared Monday in Mahoning County Court here.
Police made the arrests Thursday after a two-month probe into complaints about prostitution and underage drinking.
The names: Those arrested include:
U & raquo;Owner Dean J. Carson, 42, of Berlin Center, who was charged with one count of promoting prostitution, a fourth-degree felony. He did not enter a plea and was released on his own recognizance.
U & raquo;Craig M. Champlin, 29, of Arlington Blvd., Newton Falls, a bouncer, was charged with one count of promoting prostitution, a fourth-degree felony. His $4,000 bond was continued. He did not enter a plea.
U & raquo;Bartender Thersa R. Clonch, 42, of Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, was charged with one count of furnishing alcohol to minors and one count of permitting alcohol to be removed off premises, both first-degree misdemeanors. She pleaded innocent and was released on a $1,250 recognizance bond.
U & raquo;Tracey L. Haney, 28, of South Range Road, North Lima, was charged with prostitution, a third-degree misdemeanor. She pleaded innocent and was released on a $750 bond.
U & raquo;Jeff W. Starky, 40, of Ash Street, Ravenna, was charged with one count of assault on a police officer, a fourth-degree felony. He did not enter a plea. His $4,000 bond was continued. Police said he punched an officer in the face.
Hearings set: Those defendants are to appear at a pretrial hearing at 6 p.m. Dec. 19.
Carmen Starky, 23, of Canal Street, Newton Falls, pleaded no contest to one count of disorderly conduct. He was fined $100 and costs.
No show: Stephanie S. Waychoff, 20, of Erie Street, Brookfield, was charged with one count of prostitution, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and one count of underage drinking, a first-degree misdemeanor. She did not appear. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
