WARREN -- Superintendent Elizabeth Ross is tying up loose ends as she prepares to leave Trumbull County Educational Service Center for an opportunity she said she couldn't pass up.
Ross' last day is Thursday. She has taken a job as Gov. Bob Taft's executive assistant for education.
Associate Superintendent Wayne McClain will be interim superintendent and has applied for the permanent post.
He said the service center's governing board has extended the deadline for applications. Interviews and selection of Ross' replacement is hoped to be completed by Aug. 31.
Ross has been with the center 27 years, the past seven as superintendent.
