Trip to Niagara Falls
The Lillian Spain Foundation, an organization for black women with breast cancer which helps defray the cost of things not covered by insurance, is sponsoring a bus trip to Niagara Falls on June 9. The cost is $40. The bus will leave at 6 a.m. from Lighthouse Ministries, 1534 Himrod Ave., Youngstown, and return that evening. Contact Minister Angela Strozier at (330) 782-5345 for information.
Safe Sitter program
St. Joseph Health Center will have a Safe Sitter program. Safe Sitter teaches boys and girls ages 11 to 13 how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. St. Joseph will have three sessions: 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on June 14 and 15; July 25 and 26; and Aug. 16 and 17. The cost is $25 and scholarships are available for those unable to pay. To register, send a check payable to St. Joseph Health Center, and the following information; the child's name, birth date, parent/guardian's name; address and phone number; and preferred program date, to Safe Sitter, Community Health Education, St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown 44501.

Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren will be the site of a summer educational program July 9-Aug. 2, which will expose pre-medical students to the operation of an acute-care general hospital. Kinship care
YOUNGSTOWN -- Margaret Nagle, counselor for youth services at Forum Health Tod Children's Hospital in Youngstown, will be the speaker at the 11 a.m. Thursday meeting of Kinship Care Program, John Knox Church, 1806 Market St. The program is for grandparents raising their grandchildren and other relative caregivers. Pediatric dermatology
The third annual Pediatric Symposium for physicians, nurses, medical students and other allied health professionals will cover a variety of topics related to pediatric dermatology. It will be from 7:30 a.m. to noon June 13 at Forum Health Northside Medical Center in its medical education building. Speakers will include Dr. Joseph Bilowski from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Sewickley Valley Hospital, and several area dermatologists.
