Interim doctor hired
WARREN -- Dr. Phillip Malvasi of Niles will provide medical service to Trumbull County Jail inmates for two months while county commissioners solicit bids for a longer contract. Malvasi will be paid $17,000 a month, starting June 1, said Commissioner Joseph J. Angelo Jr. Dr. Sharon George refused to continue extending her contract without a raise. She was receiving $16,625 per month.
Constitution committee
AUSTINTOWN -- The Mahoning County Democratic Party's constitution revision committee will have a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Austintown Township Hall to discuss a proposal to reinstate endorsements of candidates during primaries and other possible constitutional changes. The party's committee members are expected to vote in June on the recommendations.
