YMCA plans open house for new director

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Shenango Valley YMCA has a new executive director.
The agency's board of directors has appointed Richard M. Marshall to the post effective Tuesday.
He succeeds Patrick O'Mahony who resigned earlier this year.
"Rich has an outstanding background with extensive experience in sports and recreational programming, fundraising, marketing and management," said Geoffrey R. Hartenstein, chairman of the executive search committee for the board.
Marshall most recently was the sports director and an announcer for Beacon Broadcasting in Greenville. He has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Marquette University and a master's in parks, recreation and tourism management from Clemson University. He also has worked in administrative and coaching positions.
He and his wife, Bobbi, an art instructor at the Keystone Charter School, live in Greenville with their two daughters.
The YMCA will have an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday to give the public a chance to meet Marshall and learn about upcoming programs and future plans for the YMCA.
