Wilmington schools to receive telecommunications upgrade

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Wilmington Area School District agreed to pay EON Communications of New Castle $19,602 to upgrade the telecommunications equipment at the district's three elementary schools.
The upgrades will enable East Lawrence, Pulaski and New Wilmington elementary schools to communicate with one another using four-digit dialing.
Also, a new voice mail system is to be installed. The voice mail system will move from the high school to Pulaski Elementary, where the central switching hub is located.
The school board also ratified an agreement Monday between the district and Jameson Memorial Hospital. The agreement calls for the hospital to provide a certified athletic trainer to the district at no cost.
School directors eliminated the consumer economics and personal finance courses for the 2001-2002 school year because of low enrollment.
Charles Mansell of the Mansell & amp; Andrews law firm was appointed district solicitor for the 2001-2002 school year at an annual retainer fee of $1,500.
