Recognition luncheon
The annual Armed Forces recognition luncheon, sponsored by the 910th Air Force Reserve Airlift Wing's Base Community Council, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at ITAM Post 3, 115 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Outstanding veterans and reservists will be recognized and the main speaker will be Air Force Major Gen. John H. Smith, adjutant general for the Ohio National Guard. Tickets for the event are $11 and should be reserved by Tuesday by calling the 910th public affairs office at (330) 609-1236.
Graves decoration
Annual Memorial Day graves decoration will be Saturday. Veterans should check their posts for information.
Families of deceased veterans are reminded that grave flag holders should be in place by Tuesday, and that they are responsible for complying with cemetery rules on the placing and-or removing of flag holders.
Health screenings
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Butler, 325 New Castle Road, will provide free health evaluations to veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Veterans applying for doctor's appointments must have a copy of their discharge papers.

At air station
Air Force Reserve Chief Master Sgt. Gary W. Kittle was promoted to his present rank will assigned as a squadron operations chief with the 910th Civil Engineer Squadron, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Vienna. He is a son of Ray and Anna W. Kittle Jr., 221 Stewart St., N.W., Champion, and a 1966 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

Transportation officer
Army 2nd Lt. Christopher J. Masson (Mercer High School, '92) graduated from the transportation officer basic course. He is a son of Daniel and Sandra Masson, Schiestle Road, Mercer, and a 2000 graduate of Gannon University, Erie.
AIR RESERVE STATION
Senior nurse
Air Force Reserve Maj. Patricia A. Brunner is assigned as a senior nurse with the 910th Medical Squadron, Youngstown Air Force Reserve Station, Vienna.
She is a daughter of Charles E. Brunner, 408 Asbury Lane, Niles, and a 1972 graduate of Youngstown Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1985 graduate of Youngstown State University.
