EASTER SEAL Golf classic scheduled to tee off on June 18



A variety of prizes will be available to participants.
WARREN -- The 2001 Easter Seal Golf Classic will be held June 18 at Trumbull Country Club.
The event will be a four-man "shamble" -- a four-player modified best ball handicap format with a total team handicap set at 35 stroke minimum allowing only one player a seven or less handicap.
Golfers will warm up on the driving range at 10 a.m., and a buffet lunch will be served at 11. A shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the blue and white tees. Afterward there will be a social from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by dinner. The awards ceremony is set for 7 p.m.
Prizes: A hole-in-one prize of a two-year lease on a 2001 Cadillac DeVille will be offered, and other prizes are as follows: $400 pro shop gift certificate and plaque for each member of the first-place team, $300 pro shop gift certificates to second-place team members; $200 pro shop gift certificates to third-place team members; and four dozen golf balls to members of the fourth- and fifth-place teams. Additional awards will be drawn for all par 3 holes as well as raffle prizes.
The event is being sponsored by First Place, affiliate of First Place Financial Corp. Entry fee is $175, and hole sponsorships with professionally prepared signs are available for $150.
