Drug-related charges
STRUTHERS -- A 19-year-old North Lima man pleaded innocent to three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of drug abuse at a preliminary hearing Friday in Struthers Municipal Court.
Police said they arrested Joshua M. Orr on April 30 after a 17-year-old Struthers High School student caught with suspected marijuana told police Orr sold it to her. She also said she shared it with her two sisters, 14 and 17. Orr's $400 bond was continued. A pretrial hearing has been set for Sept. 28 in court here.
Theft in office
WARREN -- A former Trumbull County deputy sheriff has pleaded innocent to two felony theft-in-office charges. Dennis Day, 47, of Alva N.W., Warren, entered the pleas Friday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Day, who is free on $5,000 bond, is scheduled to return to court at 9 a.m. Tuesday for a pretrial hearing. It will be in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Logan. Day was indicted on the charges last week.
Sheriff Thomas Altiere said Day, who worked for the department for 25 years, was fired in June 2000.
Robbery at gas station
FARRELL, Pa. -- Police said a man took an undisclosed amount of money from a female employee at McQuaid's Sunoco at 1050 Division St. at 4:20 a.m. Friday. The victim said the man walked in, threatened her and demanded money.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man in his mid-30s. He was about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighed between 180 and 190 pounds and wore a tan shirt. He was riding a red bicycle, the victim told police.
Lewd behavior
NILES -- A North Cedar Street woman told police that a man asked three girls to perform a sex act as they were walking along a city street.
The girls, ages 9, 8 and 12, told police that the man, driving a dark green car, stopped at the corner of Cannon and Cherry street about 6 p.m. Thursday. The man asked the girls for directions to Adams Street and they noticed that he wasn't wearing pants. He then asked them to perform a sex act and the girls ran home. The North Cedar Street woman, who is the mother of two of the girls, called police.
A host of charges
SHARON, Pa. -- Jason L. Green, 28, of Bond Street, Farrell, was freed on $5,000 unsecured bond after his arrest on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and driving under suspension.
Police said they caught Green early Friday at Cedar Avenue and George Street behind the wheel of a car that had been stolen April 27 in New Castle. He had two plastic bags of suspected marijuana in his pocket, police said. He was arraigned Friday before District Justice James McMahon.
