MASSILLON -- Two Canfield High doubles teams advanced to the Division I district tournament following sectional play Thursday at the Jackson Park courts.
The teams of Shalin Shah-Chris Kuppler and Dave Vodhanel-R.T. Vernal will play for district seeding on Saturday.
Shah-Kuppler remained alive through four sectional rounds, defeating Barberton by default for the district berth. The Cardinals will face Massillon Jackson in a semifinal match.
Vodhanel-Vernal defeated Fitch's team of Andrew Kempe-Shawn Hyden for the district berth. The Cardinals will play North Canton Hoover in the other semifinal.
Meanwhile, singles players Thomas Barth of Boardman and Noah Weiss of Canfield have advanced to the fourth round of sectional play and are one victory away from reaching the district tournament.
Barth will face Massillon Jackson's Bhaskar Biswas, while Weiss will play Massillon Jackson's Ryan Sponseller.
