Thursday, May 10, 2001

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Fire authorities were trying to determine the cause of a blaze that did extensive damage to the second floor of a Mercer Avenue home.
Firefighters were called to the residence of Charles Herrmann at 935 Mercer Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. City Fire Marshal Robert Goeltz said fire was coming out the windows when the first crew arrived.
Herrmann was at work and no one was home, he said. The fire gutted the second floor of the house.
Goeltz said there was another serious fire at the residence Nov. 7 in which the kitchen and living room suffered extensive damage. There were no injuries in either blaze.
