Trumbull officials seekto hire replacement forcounty schools chief
WARREN -- The governing board of Trumbull County Educational Service Center hopes to replace outgoing Superintendent Elizabeth Ross by June.
Ross' last full-time day will be May 31; after that, she will tie up loose ends on a part-time basis.
She is taking a job as Gov. Bob Taft's executive assistant for education.
The educational service center board is advertising throughout the state for her successor.
Board member Beverly Friend said she hopes a replacement is in place as soon as possible, but noted she is sad to see Ross go.
Ross worked at the center for 27 years, the last 71/2 as superintendent.
"I'm sure she'll do a lot of good for students all over the state with the position she's taken," Friend said. "We'll sure miss her in Trumbull County."
Ross will work on primary and secondary education issues, assist with school funding and work on teacher recruitment.
She will also implement recommendations of the governor's Students Success Commission which, if approved, could change the state's proficiency test policy.
Wayne McClain, assistant superintendent, will act as interim superintendent until someone is hired.
