RABIES BAIT
Information
Keep in mind this information as the Ohio Department of Health conducts rabies vaccination baiting of wild raccoons Monday through April 4:
Identification: Bait is 1.25 x 1.25 x .75 inches in size, brown and square.Family: Adults and children should not come in contact with bait. If baits are found in areas frequented by children or pets, toss them deeper into the woods. Wear gloves when handling bait.Exposure: Anyone exposed to the actual red vaccine liquid should wash skin with soap and water.Pets: Keep dogs or cats inside or on leashes for at least a week after your area is baited. Although baits aren't harmful to pets, it's important that raccoons have every opportunity to eat the bait. Do not attempt to take bait away from pets; you may be bitten.
