THOMAS C. ALLSOPP SR., 73 Was one of the top archers in the U.S.



CANFIELD -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seederly-Mong & amp; Beck Funeral Home in North Lima for Thomas C. Allsopp Sr., 73, of 4800 Middletown Road, who died Wednesday morning in his residence after a short illness.
Mr. Allsopp was born Oct. 5, 1927, in New Castle, a son of John and Jane McMichael Allsopp, moving to the Canfield area in 1956.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School and a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for Republic Steel in Warren, which later became LTV Steel, and later worked in the company's Chicago and Cleveland offices, retiring from the Cleveland office in 1985 after 30 years. In the Chicago office, he had been an assistant manager of production planning.
He competed in many archery tournaments and was one of the top archers in the United States. He also was a charter boat captain, holding a captain's license for inland waters.
Besides his wife, the former Genevieve L. McGuire, whom he married Oct. 4, 1945, he leaves two daughters, Cecelia Allsopp of Chula Vista, Calif., and Jayne Farragher of Canfield; a son, Thomas Carl Jr. of Poland; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A son, Paul John; a sister, Norma Davidson; and a brother, Robert John, are deceased.
