HAROLD ROBERT METZLER, 86

HOWLAND -- Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McFarland & amp; Son Funeral Home, Warren, for Harold Robert Metzler, 86, of 3149 Meadow Lane N.E., who died Monday morning in Autumn Hills Care Center, Niles, after a long illness.
Mr. Metzler was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Youngstown, a son of Simon P. and Nettie B. McClain Metzler.
A 1935 graduate of Struthers High School, he was a carpenter for Packard Electric Division of General Motors in Warren and retired in 1980. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member and trustee of First United Methodist Church and was a member of its Epworth Class. He was also a member of Carroll F. Clapp Masonic Lodge 655, Carpenters Union 1438 and the church bowling league and Buckeye Golf League.
Besides his wife, the former Sarah L. Roberts, whom he married June 16, 1941, he leaves a son, Thomas R. of Edwardsville, Ill.; four brothers, Brant of North Jackson, Clyde of Diamond, Glenn of Homestead, Fla., and Loy of Lake Milton; a sister, Grace Miller of Greensburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Charles, Frank, Gilbert, Nicholas and Paul; and a sister, Viola Newman, are deceased.
