Stitchery Showcasefeatures intricate work
AKRON -- The 32nd annual Stitchery Showcase will be held April 26-29 at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.
The showcase takes place in the mansion's Manor Auditorium and features five categories of stitch work.
Tickets are $4 for general admission and free for Stan Hywet members. All proceeds are donated to the Stan Hywet Textile Fund, which helps support the upkeep and restoration of fabrics and textiles in the collection.

Spring flower showto kick off at Phipps
PITTSBURGH -- The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden annual Spring flower show begins Saturday.
This year's theme is entitled & quot;Impressions at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. & quot;
Throughout the show, tulips, hydrangeas, lilies and narcissus will reflect impressionist paintings and modern impressionist designs.
The show will be on display through April 15.
The gardens are open year round, Tuesday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for seniors and $4 for students.

Not LAX in identification
There's no mistaking the approach to Los Angeles International Airport these days. The airport's operator has erected orange pylons as high as 10 stories, with the airport's designator code, LAX, in 32-foot letters. Fifteen of the 100-foot pylons form a gateway at Century and Sepulveda boulevards; 11 shorter but still larger-than-life pylons are on the Century Boulevard median strip between Aviatio.
