WW Heating keeps playoff race tight

STRUTHERS -- Upsets continue to shake up the Class B League baseball standings as five teams are vying for four playoff spots.
WW Heating upset Youngstown Express Wednesday, while Rondinelli Tuxedo pulled off another upset Friday as it turned back Goldsteins 8-6 at Cene Park.
Astro Falcons continues to share the top spot in the standings (18-6) as it upended Sluggers 13-5. Youngstown Express (18-6) collected 16 hits as it turned back Roth Brothers 12-7.
WW Heating (14-10) pulled off another upset as it trimmed Livi Steel 5-3. In an eight-inning contest, Alltel edged Becdir 4-3.
Chad Wagler (3-2) of Astro Falcons allowed 10 hits, but managed to strike out eight batters to pick up the win.
Sluggers (9-15) held a 4-3 lead heading into the second inning when Astro Falcons broke away with a six-run surge.
Wagler aided his own cause with a three-run home run in the second inning and he doubled home another run in the fourth. He also singled, scored three times and drove in four runs.
Boomer Whiting went 4-for-5 and scored twice for the Falcons. Pat Watt went 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in three runs. Ryan Cummins and Scott Wadman each had two hits.
Marty Kanetsky hit a double and two singles for Sluggers.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 8, Goldsteins 6: Rondinelli (5-10) took a 8-0 lead before Goldsteins (16-8) managed to score two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Mike Hanck led Rondinelli, which scored four runs in the third inning, with three hits, including a double.
Mike Deniro, Fred Ramos and Greg Rohan had two hits apiece. John Prejsnar led Goldsteins with three hits, while Nick Tucci and Kris King each had two.
Youngstown Express 12, Roth Brothers 7: Youngstown Express jumped out to a 7-0 lead, then added four runs in the sixth inning to hold off Roth Brothers' late rally.
Vasili Pahoulis (4-0) pitched 5 1-3 strong innings to pick up the win. Nick Guerrieri hit a double and triple to spark the winners.
Roth Brothers (16-8) didn't get an extra base hit, but still managed to score five runs in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh.
WW Heating 5, Livi Steel 3: WW Heating's Tom Zetts (5-0) allowed three runs in the first inning, but settled down to pitch a five-hitter through 6 1-3 innings to gain the win.
Jared Bogan hit a double for Heating, which took the lead for keeps with a three-run rally in the sixth inning.
Livi Steel's record is 15-9.
Alltel 4, Becdir Construction 3: Alltel took a 3-0 lead in the third inning, but had to go an extra inning for the victory as it scored a run in the top of the eighth.
Bill Diorio went 4-for-5 to spark Alltel, scored once and drove in a run.
Winning pitcher Brad Rudloff went the first seven innings, struck out 12 and allowed only one earned run to pick up the win. He also hit two singles, as did teammate Dan Cashon.
Today's Class B schedule has Sluggers going against Rondinelli Tuxedo at Cene 1 at 5:30 p.m., Goldsteins battling Becdir at Cene 2 at 5:30 p.m., Roth Brothers meeting Alltel at Cene 3 at 5:30 p.m., Livi Steel taking on Youngstown Express at Cene 1 at 8 p.m. and WW Heating entertaining Astro Falcons at Cene 2 at 8 p.m.
