Events scheduled for the Independence Day holiday week, as submitted to The Vindicator:
MAHONING COUNTY
Austintown: Picnic Sunday at Austintown Park, noon to 6 p.m.; parade is 2 p.m. July 4 on Raccoon Road, with fireworks at dusk at the stadium of Fitch High School.
Boardman: Bands begin at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Maag Outdoor Arts Theatre in Boardman Park, or Boardman Center Middle School, if rain. Shows last until 9:30, with fireworks at 9:45.
Campbell: Bike show, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday; car and truck show, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Saturday. Bands play from 6 to 10 p.m. next Saturday. Fireworks are at 10 p.m. July 8. All events are in Roosevelt Park.
Canfield: Tuesday's celebration at Canfield Fairgrounds begins at 4 p.m. Fireworks start at dusk. Admission cost is $10 a car. Rain date is Wednesday, same times.
North Jackson: Parade begins, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Liberty Steel.
Poland: Parade begins at 9 a.m. today at North Elementary, 2724 Mariner Ave. Activities at Village Town Hall, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. till the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Sebring: Activities from 8:45 a.m. to fireworks at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Southside Park. Bike parade at 1:30 p.m., veteran's parade, 3:30 p.m. Rain date: next Saturday.
Struthers: Parade begins at noon Wednesday at Fifth Street and Manor Avenue. Fireworks, 10 p.m., Struthers High School football field.
Youngstown: Bands play from 5 to 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on Federal Plaza. Fireworks at 10:30. July 7: bands start at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium, fireworks at 9:30.
TRUMBULL COUNTY
Howland: Parade begins 10 a.m. Wednesday, Hunter's Woods Plaza. Car show, noon to 3 p.m., parking lot of Howland High School.
Niles: Parade, 11 a.m. today, beginning at the Niles police station. Amusement rides, today through Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m. each day. Fireworks, 11 p.m. Wednesday in the park.
McDonald: Fireman's Festival Wednesday through next Saturday, Ramsay Pavilion. Parade, 6 p.m. Wednesday, fireworks, 11:30 p.m. next Saturday.
Warren: A Vietnam Memorial Wall on display today through Wednesday, south lawn of Packard Park. Parade starts 4 p.m. Wednesday at the driving range behind Harding High School; fireworks begin at dusk at the park.
LAWRENCE COUNTY
New Wilmington: A concert at Brittain Lake begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday; fireworks to follow.
MERCER COUNTY
Greenville: Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Tuesday in Riverside Park.
Grove City: Relay race starts at 3 p.m. Wednesday on Wolf Creek. A band performs on the lower campus of Grove City College at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks.
COLUMBIANA COUNTY
Salem: Activities begin 1 p.m. Wednesday at Waterworth Memorial Park. Pet parade, 2:30; band plays from 5 to 7 p.m., disc jockey from 7:30 until dusk, when fireworks start.
Columbiana: Activities at Firestone Park begin with games at 10 a.m., followed by canoe races on the pond at 1 p.m., caliope music by Leonard "Doc" Pritchard at 5:45 p.m., a concert by Canfield Community Band at 7 p.m. and fireworks at dark.
East Palestine: Activities are Wednesday, city park, including community breakfast, 8 a.m.; community building and bicycle parade, 12:30 p.m. Light parade at dusk, followed by fireworks.
