Golf fund-raiser
BOARDMAN -- A miniature golf fund-raiser for heart transplant patient George Landis will take place at 3 p.m. July 8 at Sportsworld.
The golf outing, conducted by the local branch of the Aid Association for Lutherans, is open to the public.
AAL is a national, nonprofit organization that raised money to remodel churches, provide scholarships and assist community members.
People interested in participating in the event may pick up pledge sheets at various banks and businesses in New Middletown and North Lima, or they may purchase a pledge sheet at the event for $20.
Participants may choose to make the donation themselves or obtain pledges based on their golf score. People wishing to make a donation do not have to participate in the outing. Donations are due the day of the event, and all checks should be made payable to AAL Branch 11286 Zion Lutheran Church.
The local AAL branch will match the proceeds raised at the event.
After the outing, participants may enjoy refreshments at Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown, 10857 Main St., and prizes will be awarded.
